Cabinet Makers, Inc. was established in November, 1965, in a small shop in Statesville, North Carolina. A group of five men came together to begin this new adventure. Their names were Jesse Barnette, Ken Byers, Coite Deal, Virgil Elliott and Joe Sloan. As time passed some of these five original owners went on to other things and we gained Billy Nesbit as an owner. In 1972 Billy retired and Thomas Wheat, known to all of us as “Red” came into our company to take over from Billy.

In 1972 the shop was moved to its present day location at 534 Jane Sowers Road in Statesville, North Carolina. We began at this location with 1 main building. As the business grew an office was added, a new shipping department, a warehouse building and then our final building, our raised panel door shop was added, in 1985. In 1998 Virgil Elliott, our president, retired and we were left with three owners. On September 13, 2003 one of our original owners, Coite Deal, passed away, we are honored to still have Coite’s son Mike Deal as our Plant Manager, he has worked here for over 30 years, and he makes a vital impact on our company. In 2005 Jesse and Red decided they were ready to retire and enjoy some leisure time with their families. Jonathan Baumgarner, who owned J B Cabinets in Hickory and who has over 30 years experience in the cabinet business and Kenneth Harris, who has worked at Cabinet Makers, Inc. for over 30 years, in our office and sales departments decided to buy the company. |
On 06-01-2005, they and their wives, Crystal Baumgarner, who is our Purchasing Manager and Jody Harris, who is our Human Resource Manager and their children came into our company. We continue to grow and look forward to future changes within our company to improve our products and we look forward to working with all of you. |
